Engagement Pics!

Hi all, so on to the next step! :) I booked our engagement pics for Friday May 21st with our photographer Rachel Moore (check out her website, if you haven't - she has some really great pics on there! www.rpmkc.com) We're going to take pics around the Plaza Area - maybe at the JC Nichols Fountain (where Brent proposed) or near the Nelson Atkins Museum (they have a beautiful lawn/park) Now to figure out what we're going to wear! I guess, I could do some shopping :)

After we have the pics, we can probably do some Save-the-Date Postcards and Engagement Announcements in the Great Bend & Alliance Newspapers :)

Dresses/Deer Creek/Photographer

Hi all, we had a busy week! So, I tried on some wedding dresses on Friday with a co-worker of mine, & loved 2 of them. It was a lot of fun :) Then, Friday night, Brent & I met with the Deer Creek Golf Club wedding coordinator, Linda, & officially placed our deposit down on Deer Creek for our reception. Brent had not been able to see the inside of the club house at Deer Creek yet (busy doing those taxes!) so he got to check out the room/patio/etc.... He loved it!

So, my mom & dad came up the next day (mom to check out the dresses) & we could go out to dinner to celebrate her Birthday, as well! Mom got to check out the 2 dresses I really liked, and I tried on a few more for her......No dress bought yet! I'm excited to try on some more dresses, til I find the one!

Then, Mom, Dad, & I checked out the hotel RIGHT by Deer Creek (Marriott TownePlace Suites - www.marriott.com/mcitp) & got to check out the rooms & the different types they had. They all have stove/fridge/dishes, etc...& a great outdoor pool! I'm in contact with the lady to get a block of rooms booked for that weekend!

Then, Sunday, I got up at 4:45am, & ran on a Brew-2-Brew team, (We run from Boulevard Brewery in KC to Free State Brewery in Lawrence ~45 miles - & split up 10 legs of the race) I ran with Brent's cousin Brett, Brett's fiance Katie, & some of their friends :) I ran about 10 miles, It was a BEAUTIFUL day! but I was definitely ready for bed last night!

I met with a photographer this morning for a few hours. Rachel Moore. http://www.rpmkc.com/. She was recommended by a friend from Great Bend, Ashley Gorney. Rachel has taken some Pregnancy photos/Pre-baby/& baby pics for her, & also did her brother Trenton's wedding. & they all loved her. She was very nice & had some really beautiful pictures! So we will probably be using her for engagement pics, wedding pics, & wedding video.

That's about it for now....

As for the pics....... one of me in a dress (that I'm not going to get!) it's a little Gone With the Wind, just call me Scarlett Ohara! & the other pic is our Brew 2 Brew team!

Reception BAND! :)

One thing that was important to me, is having a great band at the reception, to get people out of their chairs & on the dance floor! I want people to have tons of fun at our wedding!

So, we booked an awesome band for the reception. They played at Emily Bauer's wedding 5 yrs ago (Great Bend friend) & her brother Rob's wedding in Nov. 2009. They are called Private Stock (http://www.privatestockkc.com/). I'm very excited! Check out their songs!

We're ENGAGED!!! :)

Well, here we go :) I guess I'm going to do this blog thing.....mainly so our family (mostly our moms :) can follow the wedding planning process.

So, after a wonderful engagement weekend: Brent proposing at the JC Nicholas Fountain, followed by a Surprise Engagment party at Brio (Thank you so much to everybody who made it! I can't believe all the planning Brent did! & even during tax season!) & the 9 inches of snow! It made a great & memorable weekend!

On to the wedding planning, Brent & I met with Father Jerry of St. Agnes Church last Monday morning (all Saturdays in June 2011 were available, so that was great!!!) Since getting engaged, I have been contacting NUMEROUS reception sites, to compare prices, meals, packages, locations, etc......Last week, I toured the Deer Creek Golf Club & Terrace on the Green venues. And, after a little discussion about the location, hotels, prices, etc...we have decided to have the reception at the Deer Creek Golf Club (www.deercreekgc.com). The "Wedding Coordinator" was so very nice, & is on vacation til the end of this week. So we will meet with her this weekend & get things Officially booked up for Sat. June 11, 2011!

The next steps to follow include: booking a great Band for the reception, figuring out our wedding party, & looking at Wedding Dresses! :)

According to the Knot.com :) only 434 days left to go! :) I am looking forward to April 16th, so Brent can help a little with the planning!
