Merry Christmas!

Hi All! We traveled to Alliance, NE to spend Christmas with Brent's parents! And, we had the BEST weather ever! Let's call it a heat wave at 35 degrees :) Great weather to be traveling in - no rain, no snow. According to Brent, that never happens.

First stop on our long drive there - North Platte, visiting one of Brent's good college friends, Nate & Lauren & their new baby John. He was pretty darn cute!
Then, onto Christmas Eve with the Taylor/Nichols side in Minatare, NE. Good times, playing cards with the family!

We had a great time visiting Brent's parent, Daryl & Jan! They fed us well!!!

6 MONTHS TO GO!

Hi all,
Today is 6 months to go, until our wedding day!!! Yay! It is also Brent's dad Daryl's Birthday today! Happy Birthday, Daryl! Hope you didn't get too much snow up north!

On the wedding front....we got our ceremony time changed from 1pm to 2pm. So, that will give us MORE time for hair/makeup/pictures....& LESS time between the ceremony & the reception. So, we are very happy :)

We were planning on going to Maui for our honeymoon, but after looking into the hotel, flights, details, etc.....we have been researching other options & are trying to get it all booked up in the next few weeks. We are looking at Cabo, Mexico, the Bahamas, & some other Caribbean islands. It all sounds great & WARM. Thoughts of laying on a beach with a fruity drink, will definitely get me through these cold winter months!

Wow....I didn't know how many decisions there would be! so many different types of glasses, bowls, silverware, toasters, pots & pans.....Brent did great in there! & My mom was a great 3rd opinion on things....We just got through the dishes, china, & some appliances. We got it started, at least!187 days! :)

Happy Halloween!!!

Dress/Church

My parents came to KC this weekend. My wedding dress is made & delivered! So, I definitely had to try it on! My mom & dad came to check it out too :) The dress was even prettier than I remember :) It was so fun! I can't wait to put the dress on in 7 months for Our Big Day!!!!

My dad came to check out my dress for the first time....he was like a fish out of water! Too many ruffles/bows/dress/frills/lace going on at the Gown Gallery for him! I think that is probably the first AND last time, dad will be coming with us for a dress fitting (we wore him out!) :)

Then, we stopped by St. Agnes, to take a quick peek of where we will be getting married!!!!!

It was a fun weekend, catching up on wedding stuff, watching some football, and we took Mom, Dad, Ryan, & Katie to Oklahoma Joes (my favorite Kansas City BBQ! yum!!!)
I'm meeting with the invitation gal again this week - I'm getting very close on getting the final invitation designed! Then we're headed to Columbus, Nebraska for my cousin's wedding, and a little Thurman family reunion :)

We had a great time catching up with everybody, tailgating, getting some Valentino's....and then there was the game - beautiful day, but the Huskers couldn't quite do it :(

Cake Lady!

I booked our Cake Lady today! She works out of her house, and did my friend Emily Bauer's brother's wedding cake too. She is great! This is similar to what I want for our wedding cake, & the groom's cake that might have a Husker theme :)

8 months to go!

Hi all,
I've been doing some cake tasting lately, trying to figure out what shape of cake, how many layers, flavor, color, design, groom's cake, etc.....I've met with 2 ladies, I really meshed well with one of them, so I should be getting the cake "situation" figured out soon!
I ran Market 2 Market (Omaha to Lincoln) last weekend with Brent's cousin Brett & some of his friends....84 miles, 11 hours of running, perfect weather, it was a great day, just a long day of running, I have been moving pretty slow the last couple of days... but it was fun! Definitely going to yoga tomorrow.

8 MONTHS TO GO!
Starting with 15 months, we're almost half way there! It's gone relatively fast, I'm sure the last 6 months will fly! After booking all the "big things," now I am trying to get all the "little things" checked off the list!
My wedding dress is made & is in Kansas City!!!! I am going to try it on at the end of the month :) I also got the bridesmaids dresses ordered last Thursday, they will be in around Christmas. And, I'm meeting with the invitation gal again in the next week, for round 2 of invitation possibilites!
Yay!

The Taylors Visit!

Brent's parents came to Kansas City for a long weekend trip to visit :) We had lots of wedding stuff to show them!

Thursday night, we went to Deer Creek's Open House - so Jan & Daryl could check out our reception site, taste the food, have a few drinks & meet the wedding coordinators there. Friday, Jan & I went on a search for her "Mother of the Groom" dress. She might have found the one (the very first one she put on!) if we can find the right color & size! Then, we had dinner at Jalapeno's (one of our fav local Mexican places), & Llwellyns for a great band we like to hear too. (Daryl didn't want to leave!) Saturday - on to the rainy Plaza Arts Festival & a Husker football game too :) Sunday, we even got to show them St. Agnes, where we're getting married, & our rehearsal dinner site, Wil Jenny's.
It was a fun weekend! Great to see them & get them caught up on wedding hub-bub (I think Jan was a little more interested, than Daryl :)

I've also starting meeting/talking to cake ladies! Lots of yummy cake to taste out there! Gotta figure out what shape/size/design/flavor/filling, etc. for our cake!

Invitation Samples

I met with the invitation gal, Mary-Catherine, last night. She came up with 4 different invitations looks, trying out different fonts/sizes/monograms/colors/etc.....All were very unique, so many decisions to make on little things I've never thought about before! So, I picked things I liked, & she's going make some new invitations, & see if we can narrow it down! :)

We spent last weekend in the Ozarks. I know we've been on the go this summer, but we couldn't say no to this weekend. Brent's roommate Matt was turning 30 - as well as celebrating Brent & Dan's birthdays too. It was SOOOO beautiful down there! We had perfect weather & a great time with great friends! We couldn't have asked for more! (well, maybe not a huge biker convention....but it was fun people-watching!)

The boys!
The whole crew: Dan, Katey, Libby, Dave, Jamie, Brent, Antoinette, Matt
The girls!

Chicago!

Hi all,
For a fun Labor Day mini-vacation, we went to Chicago with our good friends Matt & Brittany. We had 4 great days there with awesome fall weather! We stayed near Michigan Ave. with all the shopping hot spots, & near Lake Michigan - where I got a few beautiful runs in! On Friday we flew in & got to Wrigleyville for a 1:00pm Cubs game. With 2nd row bleacher seats and a Cubs win, you couldn't ask for more :) We had a great time!

Then, we went to the "Nebraska" bar of Chicago to catch the Husker game (& I even coaxed the bartender to get the K-state game on one of the many TV's :) It was a great atmosphere & they even served Runzas at half time! We also ran into some really good friends from the Omaha area, small world. We had a great time, with Husker & Wildcat victories :)

The next few days were more laid back, with a long walk around the city and along the river & lake, a little shopping, some deep dish pizza, and a horse carriage ride around Chicago.

Great trip with great friends, but I was ready to be back in Kansas City!
